Ray Collins is a prominent and distinguished water photographer whose pictures are used in many global Surf and Bodyboard magazines. It is no surprise then that Qantas airlines have struck a deal to show a seven-minute documentary of his work on their flights. The video of Ray at work is fascinating and mesmerizing, and I for one would love to be doing a long stint on a Qantas flight just to watch this mini movie over and over again!
It doesn’t matter whether you surf or not, this little clip will appeal to all, as human beings have an affinity with the ocean and are forever drawn towards it. It doesn’t matter if it is a roasting hot day or if a huge cyclonic storm is battering the coast, humans will always flock to be near to the sea to wallow in it or simply to admire it.
If it wasn’t for the skill and the work that the surf photographers do then we would not have the stunning images to fill our glossy mags with each month and the images that Ray freezes in time are consistently stunning.
In the clip Ray talks about some of his favourite pictures and how he goes about capturing the shots that we all love to study, analyze and enjoy. Luckily, you don’t have to cash in any air miles or pay any air duty to see this clip as we have attached it below the article for you to enjoy. Take a look at the video and at Ray’s website and let us know which of Ray Collin’s shots is your favourite.
