Remote Control Surfers are not a new thing, they were around about 20 years ago, but my encounter with them left me feeling they were pretty rubbish and unreliable. I was surprised to find out that RC Surfers are still available and being used and I have managed to find two RC Surfing videos that show they have evolved way beyond my recollections of them.
In the first video, you can be forgiven for thinking the Remote Control dude is actually a real surfer tackling a monstrous offshore reef. The way they snake around on the first part of the wave, looks very much like a fully-grown man who has been towed into a 30-foot beast. Highly manoeuvrable, the RC Surfer can pick up every wave going and they have a variety of tricks in their bag. Performing little slashes that chuck out plumes of spray, getting slotted and performing barrel rolls these little guys look like they are having a blast!
The second clip, whilst not the best of quality, shows a Remote Control ripper, surfing rings around a full sized boarder – literally! After a while the big surfer can take no more of being shown up and out surfed, so he takes matters into his own hands!
These RC surfers are a fair bit bigger than the ones I remember and look a lot more controllable and reliable than the ones of old. I cannot think of a better way to have fun when the waves are too small to get the real gear out and would love to get my hands on one to test.
How about you? Do you think you could enjoy these RC surfers and let us know if you know where to get our hands on one?
