Red Paddle Co have always been at the forefront when it comes to inflatable Paddleboards, and their latest SUP is about to change the face of team paddleboarding forever. The Red Dragon is a 22′ SUP designed for four paddlers and the release of this mighty paddleboard coincides with the announcement of the Red Dragon World Series, a dedicated team world championship.
Measuring 22′ X 34″ X 8″, the Red Dragon features high rails, a profiled nose, extra rigidity and a Dragon design on the deck pad and when not in use, it packs down into a bag small enough to be transported as a checked bag on a plane. With 4 paddlers driving the board forward, the Red Dragon moves through water like a sea serpent.
Earlier this year we saw a prototype of this board in action at The Head of The Dart Challenge, with only three Red Paddle team riders on board, it went off from the start line like a rocket. In fact the team actually finished in 7th place, less than four minutes behind the race winner – not bad for what was a intended to be a bit of fun on a prototype board. The Red Dragon is not just about speed and competitive racing though, it is a SUP that will be fun for families, groups of friends and could even be used for corporate team building.
As yet we have been unable to track down the recommended retail price, but full details of the Red Paddle Co Red Dragon and the Dragon World Series can be found by following the link HERE. Does the Red Dragon get you fired up and make you want to claw your way through the water with a team of friends and do you think the new SUP team racing concept is a smoking idea?
