Almost a year ago to the day, we reported on the worlds first self inflating Paddleboard, The SipaBoard, a SUP that not only inflated itself but also had its on jet propulsion engine onboard. The SipaBoard team have since been back to the drawing board and have now released the self inflating SipaBoard Air range, which is available through a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter.
There are 3 models in the Air range, the All-Rounder, The Cruiser and The Balance and are fitted with a fully integrated compressor, which is powered by a removable rechargeable battery. The SipaBoard Air boards inflate within 5 minutes and remove the need to lug bulky pumps around with you, and give you the opportunity to get changed and stretch whilst the board is doing it’s thing.
Along with the self inflating SUP, the SipaBoard crew have also added a leash to the boards, which cleverly doubles as a carry system and makes getting the board to the waters edge a whole lot easier. The SipaBoard Kickstarter campaign is now live and full details on the new Air range and the pledge rewards can be seen here. At time of writing the SipaBoard team have secured just over $16000 towards their $100000 goal with 59 days still to go.
We have included the Kickstarter campaign video below and would be interested to hear what you think. Do you like the idea of a self inflating paddleboard or do you think toiling over a pump is all part of the SUP experience?
