There’s some great websites for getting the latest surf forecast from Oahu to San Diego and Newquay to Bondi, although an app might be better if you mostly get surf reports while on the move. Today, we wanted to highlight a few of the best surf forecast apps for Android, iPhone, and iPad.
The best Android app in our opinion would be MSW Surf Forecast that’s by the well-known Magic Seaweed website. This Google play app contains a 7 day forecast and tide graphs, live spot-by-spot conditions, and many other features like wind and swell charts. You can find the MSW Surf Forecast app for iPhone as well on iTunes, although the developer didn’t create a dedicated iPad view sadly.
Another great app for surf reports from some of the worlds hottest spots would be Surfline, again this is another popular name in the surfing world. Most of our readers will know the website behind this app very well. You can download the free version of Surfline for iOS here, which will give you 5-day forecasts for thousands of surf spots and also live HD surf cams for around 140 locations. The Surfline app is also on Google play for Android devices.
You’ll also find plenty of apps with more focused reports, such as the Hurley Surf Coastalwatch app for iPhone. This app on iTunes focuses on around 85 popular surf spots in Australia with forecasts and the latest surf cam video.
The above apps all support the iPad and work fine within the Apple tablet, although sadly none have a dedicated design just for the Apple iPad. It is not clear why none of the developers wanted to target a separate design for the iPad, and we’ll be sure to update this article if we find a surf forecast app with a dedicated iPad view.
