The Growers Cup coffee brewer bag offers the perfect answer to those of you looking for a brew while camping or on Surf trips, and in this article we take a closer look. There have been many occasions, when after a trek through the darkness of the night and after a couple of hours of uncomfy sleep cramped up in the motor, in the hope of a decent Surf, that I have woken and craved a proper cup of coffee.
It matters not whether you are someone who likes a brew before or after your dawn session, a range of speciality Coffee and Teas that have been produced by Growers Cup are the ideal accessory to take with you on your Surf trips.
We have been taking a look at the Go Brazil Speciality Coffee from the Santana Estate, that has been released to coincide with the World Cup currently underway in the country so well known for it’s coffee, carnivals and football.
Growers Cup have designed and produced amazing coffee in a pouch that can be taken anywhere and simply brewed at anytime. Without the need for fancy or bulky equipment, being able to enjoy the finest coffee whilst on the move has never been easier, so long as you have access to boiling water, you have access to real coffee.
Inside the Growers Cup pouch is filter compartment that contains 18 grams of freshly ground coffee. The process to making the coffee is incredibly straightforward. After opening the zip lock bag and snapping off the pour spout cap, you simply add 300ml of boiling water to the bag and reseal the zip lock. Leave the pouch to stand and brew for between 2 and 4 minutes and then simply pour. The resulting coffee is not only steaming hot but is smooth, full of flavour and perfectly made.
The PE-coated paper that surrounds the pouch does a fantastic job of keeping the coffee piping hot, probably better than an un-insulated cafetiere does, and to maintain the temperature for any coffee not poured first time round, simply replace the pour spout cap to retain the heat.
If I have one gripe over this design, it would be nice to have some way of knowing how much water to add to the pouch. Either a see through window or an internal level mark to fill up to, would work well. If roughing it in a car on a Surf trip, the last thing I would be taking with me is a measuring jug to accurately pour out 300ml of water. Mind you, the pouch is designed to produce 2 cups of coffee, and I found it was perfect for one mug so you could easily use these to measure out the water. The process of making the coffee is so simple; once you have made it that first time you will know exactly the routine and process involved instinctively.
So how about the coffee? Honestly – as good as any filter coffee I have ever tried and quite truthfully better than most. For that little bit of sophistication whilst travelling or roughing it, the Growers Cup brewed in a bag coffee is fantastic.
Growers Cup also offer a full range of coffees, so whether you prefer coffee from Costa Rica, Ethiopia of Colombia there is something for everyone.
