Surfers, Wave Riders and lovers of the ocean are going to appreciate the latest offering to feature at Kickstarter. The Surfer Dude is a toy that mesmerises and captures the attention of kids and adults alike and offers many hours of fun for all. This unique toy is self-righting and always turns to face shore and catch every wave going.
For those not familiar with Kickstarter, it is a way of funding a developing idea or business by appealing to the masses for help with financial donations. There are different amounts of cash that can be pledged and in return for your support the business owner offers something in return. In this particular project you can pledge anything from $5 to over $3000. For your input you can expect to receive anything from an E-card up to a 3-night stay in Cocoa Beach and meeting the inventor of the Surfer Dude, Joe Thompson.
Joe came up with the idea for Surfer Dude whilst he watched his youngest son stare longingly at his older brother surfing out in the water that was too deep for him to enjoy. Joe decided that his youngest boy needed something to play with in the shallows and set about creating the Surfer Dude. Although we have seen other surfing toys before, including remote controlled surfers, the Surfer Dude breaks the mould as it is self-propelling, constantly stable and always heads for shore.
For a pledge of $45 you can get one of the first Surfer Dudes off the production line and get to choose from 3 bright and exciting colors, blue, orange and green. Each Dude features a funky vivid Mohawk and for larger investors Joe will either sign the bottom of the board or will airbrush the investors chosen name to the toy.
At the time of writing the current pledges total just over $1000 with Joe Thompson seeking$70 000 by close of play on February 9th. It seems a tall order but we feel it is a Kickstarter project that will gather pace and surely a toy that will be seen at a beach near you in the not too distant future. After much deliberation we here at Surf-Report have decided blue is the one for us. For more details or to make a pledge take a look at kickstarter.com, or watch the video below this article.
Let us know if you think the Surfer Dude will catch on and what colorway catches your eye.
