The European Association of Surfing Doctors (EASD) are a group of medical professionals who have a passion for surfing and a shared interest in keeping other surfers and water users healthy and safe. The EASD have joined forces with Surfing Medicine International to design and release an iOS and Android Surf First Aid App which provides valuable information on life saving and first aid, and is something that every water user should consider downloading.
As well as being crammed with safety and first aid information, the App also contains a a comprehensive list of worldwide emergency numbers, a guide to marine bites and stings, sections on hand signals and beach flags along with a quiz to test your knowledge. Cleverly, the App has been designed to work offline, meaning you will always have access to the information no matter where you are and whether or not you have signal.
Currently the App is only available to download in english, but the team are promising further versions in the future and are asking users to contact them to pass on ideas, language preferences and feedback. The App is available from iTunes (£2.99) and GooglePlay (£2.21) and although it is a shame the App is not free as this will surely put some people off, it is really an essential App for every water user out there and should be downloading immediately. Let us know if you have bought the Surf First Aid App or if you believe it should be free for everyone?
