The surfing world waits in eager anticipation for the WSL Big Wave Awards that are being held later this week on the 1st of May. The award ceremony is always a favourite on the calendar, when we finally get to find out who will win the Surfline Overall Performance, the Billabong Ride of the Year and the one everyone wants to see, the Big Wave Award Wipeout winner.
The event will be streamed live via the World Surf League App and the WSL homepage and we will also get to find out who has been voted the winner of the Women’s Performance of the Year, the person who has ridden the XXL Biggest wave, the winner of the Paddle in category as well as the winner for the Tube of the year Award. Now in its 15th year the Big Wave Awards, showcase waves and surfers from all corners of the globe and is one of the most respected award ceremonies on the circuit.
All your usual suspects are included in the nominations including Shane Dorian, Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker, Mark Matthews and Greg Long and this year even see’s the inclusion of Brad Domke for his ridiculous ride at Puerto Escondido on his skimboard.
