After struggling for a bit of inspiration today, I stumbled across a video that totally blew me away. The video in question is of Teahupo’o and has been filmed by Ben Thouard on a GoPro as a simple bit of fun, the result is absolutely stunning and features images of Teahupoo like you have never seen before. The video is filmed entirely beneath the wave and not only gives you an idea of the make up of the reef it also includes some fantastic moments of surfers enjoying one of the most famous waves in the world.
If anyone was in any doubt of the depth of water that Chopes breaks in, this edit makes it quite clear how shallow it is out there and how solid the reef looks too. The hypnotic imagery blended with music by Jabberwocky is a perfect way to loose yourself on this cold and drab Sunday afternoon.
Ben, who lives in Tahiti, specialises in aerial photography, shooting his images from a paraglider and capturing stunning water shots both above and below the surface. He has scored dozens of cover shots on some of the biggest mags in the world, including The Surfers Journal, SUP mag, Wind and Surfing Life.
