As of today, Wednesday 19th August, Surf Snowdonia has been forced to shut its doors to the public due to an unforeseen technical problem at the Wavegarden site. The announcement has been made this morning and although the exact problem hasn’t been revealed, the official word is that the lagoon will have to be fully drained to allow engineers to be able to address the fault and Surf Snowdonia will remain closed for several days.
This will be a huge blow to everyone on the site who has worked tirelessly since the launch nearly three weeks ago, and also a major disappointment to the guests who have lessons and sessions pre-booked. Surf Snowdonia are promising to refund anyone who is affected by the closure and have made it clear that although the lagoon is out of action, the rest of the site is still open, including the café bar, the surf shop and the soft play shack and camping pods.
Having visited the site for the official opening back in July, we know that the staff and engineers will be working at their absolute best to get the lagoon repaired and re-opened as quickly as humanly possible. In the meantime you can stay up to speed with all on site developments by checking in at the Surf Snowdonia Facebook page. Let us know if you have been affected by the closure and are you shocked that such a major problem has developed within just a few weeks of opening?
