You are all undoubtedly looking forward to the finale of this years ASP World Championship Tour which is due to culminate between the 8th and 20th of December at Pipeline in Hawaii. All of us are going to be frothing at the action going down on the waves as the competition goes to the wire, but have you ever stopped to wonder what is going on beneath the waves at Pipeline?
We have found a video that shows exactly the make up of probably the most famous wave in the world and shows in great detail just how nasty and gnarly it is beneath sea level. The film was recorded by Mike Zanine, by simply paddling out on a relatively calm day with nothing but his fins and camera.
So when you are now tuning in to watch your favourite Pro Surfer doing battle in December and putting their neck on the line for a ten point tube ride, you will be able to fully appreciate just how dangerous Surfing out at Pipe is. The undulating reef and frightening looking caves are no place for a disorientated and rag dolled Surfer to be! Enjoy the 8 minute clip below and let us know if you realised just how evil Pipeline is below the waves?
