We’ve all seen Laird Hamilton cruising the surf on his Foilboard, gliding majestically above the wave, but for the first time ever a French company called AHD have designed and released a Stand Up Paddleboard Foilboard. The Sealion Wings board is a hybrid SUP that takes elements of WindSUP and Windsurf Foil boards to create this unique paddleboard.
The Sealion Wings Foilboard retails at a whopping €3799, but the experience offered is priceless and it is said that the board is “more reactive and surfs really close to the wave trough.” The thought of riding a wave on the foil really appeals to me and must give a real sense of flying as the foil ‘catches’ and the rider is lifted up into gliding mode.
Unfortunately, at this moment in time, the Sealion Wings is only available in one size (7’6″ x 29″), with a volume of 109 litres, so is a board only suited to the lighter rider. A video of the FoilSUP in action can be seen below this article and full details on the Sealion Wings can be found at the AHD website. Is FoilSUP something you would like to try and would the Sealion Wings be a board you would hope to add to your quiver?
