Many of you will remember that back in March, we witnessed the first ever Ultimate Waterman competition that pitted 8 of the worlds best watermen against other in six different disciplines, and was eventually won by local legend Daniel Kereopa. Now a behind the scenes documentary has been released on Red Bull TV, that not only shows the competitors in battle, but also reveals the close comradery between them and also showcases the beautiful New Zealand backdrop.
The 48-minute documentary follows the elite athletes who went head to head in the disciplines of Waka-ama, longboard and shortboard surfing, SUP endurance distance paddling and SUP surfing as the competition switched venues to make the most of the conditions. Eyes are already set on the return of the Ultimate Waterman for 2016 with the promise of more competitors and disciplines as well as a longer competition period.
We have included the official trailer to the documentary below and you can head over to see the full 48-minute edit at Red Bull TV. Let us know if you like the idea of these multi discipline events and can you suggest any other watersports you would like to see included for 2016?
