It seems that Christmas came early for some, with the announcement that The Wave Bristol project, and it’s crowdfunder campaign to bring an inland surfing lake to Bristol, England has smashed it’s £150 000 crowd funding target. The Wave, Bristol was seeking funding from backers to help take the project to the next level and help deliver so much more than a basic Surfing lake.
The Wave will not only offer perfect head high waves, that peel all day every day, but will include sensory gardens, a camping area, a natural swimming pond and an entertainment amphitheatre for all to enjoy – not just Surfers. The crowdfunding campaign was successfully overfunded by a whopping £69473 on the 22nd of December and was supported by 937 backers, the money raised will help make The Wave a reality with work expected to get underway in February 2015.
Rewards for backers ranged from a shout out on Facebook, limited edition T Shirts, a chance to have your name engraved on the official backers wall or the ultimate backers package which is basically a key to the front door at The Wave. One lucky backer will also have bagged themselves a Golden Ticket, which is a lifetime membership to the 300 metre long surfing lake. Unfortunately, the crowdfunder campaign is now closed but you can keep up to date on the project by checking in regularly at The Wave Bristol website and signing up to The Wave Facebook page here. Did you back the project and are you excited to see project successfully funded and work ready to start?
