Believe it or not the judges and organisers of the Red Bull Storm Chase 2014 have deemed it no longer stormy enough to continue running Mission 3 at The Bluff, Hayle, Cornwall. Following the decision to call a halt to the event we are pleased to announce that Thomas Treversa has been voted the winner of this years event.
In what has been a ferocious couple of days the sailors have battled it out in brutal conditions with swells estimated at up to 30 foot. The four contestants have showed immense courage and have all shown off a huge collection of tricks and the decision could not have been harder for the judges. The other results have put Marcillio Browne in second place, Leon Jamaer in 3rd and Daniel Bruch brings up the rear in 4th place.
The biggest disappointment of the competition has been the lack of a live feed and we have only been able to keep up to speed with events via a messaging service on the Red Bull page. There is a promise of video clips as of the 10th of February, and there has been a lot of footage captured via mast cams so we look forward to being able to watch the best of the action tomorrow.
As we finish off this article, Thomas has just been presented with his trophy and the celebrations are beginning. To read all the news from the last couple of days and see some pictures of the action take a look at the Storm Chase page and keep tuning in to see the video clips. Well done to all involved and for the professionalism of the riders and the water safety team.
