Bodysurfing is the purest form of wave riding going and you wouldn’t think there was much room for the sport to be improved, but an entrepreneur by the name of Nick Gadler has developed a wavesurfing wetsuit called the WaveWrecker, which is said to allow you attack the waves like never before. The WaveWrecker is a wetsuit that is fitted with a total of 11 built in fins and adds buoyancy and control to the wearer, and seems to blend bodyboarding and bodysurfing together.
Nick is now seeking funding on Kickstarter to help launch the WaveWrecker, and is hoping to raise a total of $10 000 to bring the suit to market. The WaveWrecker has been 6 years in development and those who have tried it, seem to be pretty impressed by the extra control it offers and how it allows you to grip the wave and ride higher on the face. The suit allows the wearer to ‘become the board’ and is available for adults and children alike.
Full details of the WaveWrecker along with the list of rewards can be seen at their Kickstarter campaign page here and we have embedded the official funding video below. We would love to hear your thoughts on the WaveWrecker – do you think the sport of bodysurfing needed bringing into the 21st century and the WaveWrecker is going to revolutionise the sport or has Nick over engineered and over thought the simplest form of wave riding?
