Live streaming of the WSL 2016 Big Wave Awards will take place on 23rd of April, which will also include the Billabong Ride of the Year, Pure Scot Barrel of the Year and the TAG Heuer Biggest Wave.
The nominees for the Women’s Overall Perfomance includes Bethany Hamilton, Paige Alms, Emi Erickson, Andrea Moller and Keala Kennelly, who will be judged on water safety leadership and outstanding performance. The Surfline Men’s Overall Performance includes Nic Lamb, Mark Healey, Greg Long and Sahne Dorian to name but a few, with the winner bagging themselves $15000 and a Tag Heuer Watch!
Without doubt, the most popular category (certainly for the surf fans) is the Tag Heuer Wipeout Award, with 5 nominees in contention for the “wipeout of the year”. Niccolo Porcella, Pedro Calado, Matt Becker, Garrett McNamara and Tom Dosland have all put in sterling efforts all year and have come up with 5 fantastic wipeouts for you to enjoy. The compilation video is embedded beneath this article and we would love to hear which surfer you think should take the win for the best/worst wipeout and will you be tuning in to see the awards stream live on the night? Be warned – it’s not pretty viewing!
